Seeing Light

Seeing Light

Someone who can paint or sketch understands light.  They know about harsh light, soft light, flattering light.  They understand that shadows play just as an important role in making a captivating image too.

I think I became better at photography once I tried to use these ideas when I create images. I was inspired by a couple of great photographers who talked about this concept, and I slowed down.  I slowed down and took time to look for great light.  All of a sudden I wasn't looking for great backdrops or locations, but great light.  It seemed that with great, flattering light it didn't matter what the locations was so much, but that I could capture that bit more Mmmmmmm in an image.

This guy knows what it means to capture light...
